Great for HTPC or Server, June 17, 2012 By Amazon Lover (spakelum, Mars) - See all my reviews This review is from: Intel Core i7 3770S processor 3.1 4 LGA 1155 BX80637I73770S (Personal Computers) Have been running since launch week and has far exceeded my expectations. Windows 8 Consumer Preview as primary os, hyper-v virtual machine with windows home server running in the background and CPU usage usually never goes above 5%.
The most amazing part of my htpc/server is that at most times the only fan running is the hyper 212 evo heatsink fan (variable speed using Asus fan xpert2 between 600-700 rpm) and my CPU and motherboard temps have never exceeded 41 Celsius. Also, my system idles at 38 watts.
If I run the rear exhaust fan at 250rpm temps never exceed 35 Celsius.
Word to the wise, If you are planning to use hd4000 graphics with windows media center, make sure to turn off the automatic contrast adjustment in the intel driver settings otherwise you might find the screen constantly adjusting on some recorded content.

3770S not a drop in replacement for 2600S..., June 11, 2012 Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Intel Core i7 3770S processor 3.1 4 LGA 1155 BX80637I73770S (Personal Computers) While it physically fits (i.e., same packaging), the 3770S may not be a drop in replacement for 2600S in some systems. I found out the hard way. Check your BIOS and processor support information carefully before upgrading to this CPU.
